Hello! I'd call myself a music listener and enjoyer. I had 500k minutes listened in one year on Spotify. Thats like half my year spent with music playing.

I hate the classic "I listen to everything" line but I genuinely think thats how I feel. When I think of my favorite artists the first 5 I think of are: Bladee, Mitski, Glaive, Ghost Mountain and Car Seat Headrest. If you think this invalidates any of my opinion I completely understand.

Heres a photo of my last.fm top listened albums.

Lyrics

Hello! Sometimes when I'm listening to a song a lyric comes up and stays in my head for maybe days at a time. I usually wish I could disperse these lyrics out to everyone in the world so they might have the chance to enjoy what I enjoy.

Since I'm not omnipotent, I'm just gonna add lyrics that either mean something to me, sound cool or that I just want to share here. ^-^

"Crucify me in my Tommy and Lacoste, Tired of my guilt and tired of feeling lost." - Sidney Phillips, Crucify Me In My Tommy and Lacoste.

Sidney P. just says this line so beautifully and it really creates such a vivid image in my head... Idk I just love it so much

"Fuck your flag and your life dont matter, pigs gon' burn, Nazi skulls gon' shatter" - Ghost Mountain, BROKEN ANGEL HOSPITAL.

Ghost mountain shitting on the thin blue line flag and the "PLM" counter-movement. Ghost mountain is so fucking woke I love it!!!! I only wish they still pushed these lyrics and their politics like they used to.

"Is there any love for a boy who has sinned?" - Bladee, One In A Million.

"I'm going to Hell, you're going to Heaven, it doesn't negate our holy connection" - Brakence, rosier/punk2.

Honestly any lyric in this whole song could fit here its such a beautiful song with an amazing breakdown. I was lucky enough to see him sing this live and holy Moly.... I've never screamed a song so loud.

"I feel like a girl a bit, when I come home in these Prada shoes." - glaive, i don't really feel it anymore.

Silly little line I love it. I've really felt this song recently. As of writing it just passed the 1 month of my ex and I breaking up, and the feelings that were there are starting to fade. You could say I don't really feel it anymore. but yeah this song is so fucking good the dora jar vocals as the beat the nice little drums the flow the lyrics the everything very nice job glaive.

"You say that you like me, well I think you messed up" - quinn, ok im cool.

This song owned my 2021 listening charts. What quinn did for the "hyperpop/digicore" culture was so amazing she really deserves so much praise. quinn's new tracks are definetly better than this sound but nostolgia is a tough thing to beat.

"And I hate the way you act, like Juno, insomniac" - angelus, gossip girls

This line is a standout on this song because I was at a show and held my phone out to big megatron and she took it and sang this line into the camera. It's a very nice memory. :3

"What's that sound? The silence here is so loud." - Reserv, The Silence Here (I'm Gutted)

oh my god the way he yells this lyric at the climax of the song......... oh spill me out and spread me all around... I'm gutted........ GODD its so beautiful I love sounds

"If I can't bring my weird friends then I wont go." - glaive, Count It Up

"You look so nice in your shirt." - Clairo, Bubble Gum

This line means so much to me. It perfectly displays the feeling of being so enamored by someone, but not having the words to describe how you feel. You end up just blurting out something silly almost. I forgot how I found this song but it was not long after it released. I don't know why the fuck I was listening to songs like this then. I definetly didn't have any reason to be this sad back in 2019........

"CAN I STILL GET INTO HEAVEN IF I KILL MYSELF?" - La Dispute, King Park

Contender for best emo line in my books, the screaming the whole build up through the song, literal cinema in music form.

"I'm counting pennies, going to the city." - 2hollis, cliche

"What do you want me to say, when I can't tell you the truth?" - Mom Jeans, Death Cup

"The music in the club is turning me up now, its turning me up" - Reserv, Bill Murray Movie

The mellow delivery of this line is so fucking funny to me I just love it. He really sounds turnt.......

"I'm stealing catalytic converters from the impound" - Buckshot, Hallow'd Ground

For the amazing aesthetic and world the Haunted Mound has created, they have so many stupid ass fucking lines like this. These lines really make me love the group even more, they are having fun with music and thats what is really beautiful about it.

"How you living life with no passion?" - xaviersobased, patchmade

I swear when this dropped everyone, their favorite rapper and their grandma was tweeting this line. Xavier reall is so based I love what hes done for the underground rap culture.

CDs in My Car (Rating)

Hiiiiiii here I'm gonna list and give my rating on every CD I bought to play in my car. I fuck with physical media so much so I don't use a bluetooth player in my car. I'm cool and different and use CDs instead. I'm gonna give each album a number rating but honestly don't listen my numbers just listen to what I have to say about them lol.

I'm gonna try to go in order of when I got them but I'll probably mess it up.

The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappel Roan: 8/10

This album is really amazing, when I first heard it I thought it was some "pop-slop" or something of the likes. I was very wrong, prior to buying the CD I listened to "Good Luck Babe!" and was very impressed. It made me feel like I was taken back to when I was very young listening to the music my sisters would play. So when I saw this CD sitting on the shelves at the record store I decided to give it a try. I'll say it, I'm not a lesbian, so the album probably can't click as hard as it can for me as for others. Even then I do really love this album, I think its the classic pop sound done really really well. Chappel's voice on the tracks is so amazing and I have cried to many of the songs on this album. The only thing holding it back from a higher score is that a couple of the songs get a little repetitive to me.

Favorite track: "Red Wine Supernova"

Least favorite track: "Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl"

...Baby One More Time by Brittney Spears: 6/10

Call me a poser but I really only like the title track "...Baby One More Time". The rest of the songs are good but its hard to compete against an all timer.......

Favorite track: "...Baby One More Time"...LOL

Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? by The Cranberries: 9/10

Such a fan of this album. Didn't realize how big The Cranberries were even outside of their songs that were trendy on TikTok. Once I heard some of the songs on this album I realized how often my family would listen to it when I was younger. I stole this CD from my exes parents when I helped them move LOL. I didn't really steal I just asked if I could have it. I'm so glad I did. Nothing beats the feeling of having the top down and listening to Sunday or Linger. I even had a sticker I was gonna put on the back of my car that said something like "KEEP HONKING! I'm crying listening to The Cranberries' 1993 hit single Linger!".

Favorite track: "Linger"

Least favorite track: None lowkey not a bad track on this album.

MM..FOOD by MF DOOM: 8/10

I don't have a lot to say about this album! I think its pretty consistent all the way through. The only thing is it really isn't an album I'd drive to. Most of my ratings are from only listening to it in the car, but this one is also from giving it a relisten another time.

re:wired by kuru: 8/10

This album had to take some time to fully grow on me. It's a really nice experimental underground rap album with kuru's classic autotuned vocals that are pitched up. Some of the flows on this song are just way too nice. Some tracks the high-pitched and mumbly vocals become a little too much for me, but I think these moments are heavily outshined.

Favorite track: "wired in"

Least favorite track: "we can still reach heaven"

Million Dollars to Kill Me by Joyce Manor: 3/10

Boooo Booo Booooo!!!!!!! I love some of the Joyce Manor songs but this album is just so lame. Nothing special emo album that doesn't really even sound that good. I love the emo vocals but anyone can do that lowkey....... Anyways how are your guys's days today :3.

i am > i was by 21 Savage: 8/10

Really good hip hop album! 21 Savage has always had a soft spot in my heart. I can't wait for the day where being a womanizer/lowkey misogynist isn't so prevelant in mainstream music/mainstream hip hop. Only taking off like 1 point for that though. I LOVE 21 SAVAGE!!!!!!!!

Favorite track: "a lot"

Least favorite track: none they all have pretty good merit behind them ^-^

The Skylines Consime You by Reserv: 10/10!!!!

There might be a little bit of bias due to small artist love.. This album helped me through my recent breakup. I really don't think anyone else does music like Reserv does. The emo vocals make my heart melt... "AND MY STOMACHS TIED IN IRON KNOTS AND I CANT GET ALL MY WORDS OUT!!!!" If you see this please listen to Reserv I genuinely don't think a single one of his songs are below a 8/10.

Favorite track: "The Silence Here (I'm Gutted)"

NO LEAST FAVORITE TRACKS THEY ARE ALL SO GOOD IN LIFE IM IN LOVE!!!!!!!!

Vinyl's I Own (Rating)

Hiiiii! I'm gonna write a little about each vinyl I have purchased over the year or so I've been collecting and listening.

Bury Me At Makeout Creek by Mitski: 10/10

This album means a lot to me!!! After countless attempts from many friends to listen to Mitski I finally did. At first the only work from Mitski that stuck with me was some tracks off of this album. Each song on this album hits like a truck. The track Last Words of a Shooting Star unironically made me cry the first time I listened. I was able to stay strong throughout the rest of the album. The thought of looking pretty even in death had never even crossed into my mind. Not to get all weird but that song was a big step in me getting more woke. The persistance of dying "pretty" was so pushed through the song and it helped me recall to other stories I've heard of women wanting to die "clean" and not seen in a gross mess. Again I'm trying not to be the classic fake male feminist but that really opened my eyes to a lot of the terrible standards women are held to that men never have to think about. There's probably a lot more to be said there and I'm not the guy to do it. (It probably shouldn't be a guy who does that LOLOL).

The other song I would like to write about is Francis Forever. The only gripe I might have with this whole album is the line "I've been trying to lay my head down, but I'm writing this at 3AM". I just get a small little ick when artists include something like that. It feels like it ruins my immersion a little. Even with the one flaw this song is a 11/10. The build up at the end and Mitski's beautiful writing make me want to be in love with everyone ever. During my last relationship this was the song I would play whenever I missed her. Not to get all sappy......

I reccomend this album ten times over to everyone ever. Mitski was one of three people who I think invented music, and we will touch on the other two. In this post!!!!

MY LIFE by Saturn: 7/10

This vinyl is quite different than the other ones I will be covering. Instead of being an album, this is more like a a a a collection of songs saturn made throughout his career. Straight from the "hyperpop/digicore" collectives of 2020, "go white boy go" is the perfect example of where saturn came from. Saturn literally takes a bite of a sandwich mid song... A lot of the tracks on this album follow suit with the goofy hip-hop inspired flows and lyrics.

Saturn took a little hiatus during the year of 2022 and came back with some tracks I wasn't the biggest fan of. Of course I love that saturn moved from the sound I knew him for but some of the songs were just a little pretentious to me. One song that he released in 2023 I did really end up looking. A little delve into the sound I knew him for, Matryoshka Redrum has a loud bouncy beat with some of the classic autotuned vocals. I was really glad to hear saturn not be afraid to go back to what he was doing before, while still expirementing. All in all you can call me a poser but the first side of this vinyl (more of saturn's older stuff) is a lot better than the second side.

Gluee by Bladee: 9/10

Holy fucking shit Gluee by Bladee oh my god oh my god oh my fucking god. I was so excited to hear that they did a rerelease of all of Bladee's vinyls. I caught this at the record store and inquired at the front about how many people buy them. Apparently there are not many hot single drainers in my area... Anyways this album is Bladee's first! The sound of Gluee is matched by only his other album Eversince (which I will cover maybe even next). A lot of these tracks are quite ethereal almost, and Bladee's autotuned vocals on the top create a sound that was unheard of in his time. Even if you don't know Bladee or like this album, you most likely like artists who were directly influenced by this album.

Gluee is home to one of my top 5 songs ever, Deletee. If you have yet to hear this song, go outside (assuming its night time), look up at the stars and press play. Alright if you've done that you should agree that this song is so fucking amazing. That Swedish boy and his little autotune oh my god... Thaiboy Digital rounds off the song perfectly with a chiller verse. (Calling himself Thaiboy Goon before it was mainstream might be yet another sight of DrainGang's influence in pop culture.)

You're Gonna Miss it All by Modern Baseball: 9/10

Finding this album was such a big turning point in my music listening career, if you want to call it that. Once I had access to my own spotify account, I immedietly gravitated towards the 2016-2019 like emo-rap movement. Artists like Lil Peep, XXXTentacion and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal would take up such a large portion of my time. (Maybe one day I'll do a little post about them). As time moved on as did my music taste, it later evolved into more mainstream hip-hop. But with the hit of the 2020 "hyperpop/digicore" scene I was so hooked. Ok sorry let me get to the point. I never listened to any "real" emo music, just a whiny white guy over a guitar type of songs. Until I was introduced by a couple different people.

The song that stuck with me the most at first is Your Graduation. The content of the lyrics is a little sad but the song itself is so catchy and almost feel-goodey, if you get that. Like with this song I just want to sing and dance with someone else. Personally, a lot of MoBo's songs do this. Your Graduation brings me back to a time when I was happy. (not that im not happy now just a different happy time lol).

Broken Cash Machine is a great representation of the midwest emo genre. The line at the beginning "Home alone on Friday night, No better time for exercise and wishing you were still my girlfriend.", thats like the most loser emo line you could ever say and its amazing. I miss Modern Baseball so much.

theres so much i can say about this album but none of the other ones are as long so i will chill
